MycoBite 2: Is analysing mycotoxins sufficient to diagnose mycotoxicosis?

Welcome to the second episode of MycoBites. In this series of six episodes, Dr. Swamy Haladi, Global Technical Commercial Manager for Selko's Mycotoxin Risk Management programme will touch upon various aspects related to mycotoxin analysis.

Mycotoxin

In this episode, Dr. Swamy Haladi discusses how to sufficiently diagnose a potential case of mycotoxicosis. He explains the difference between acute and chronic mycoxicosis and how feed analysis alone is a good start, but perhaps not the only parameter to be evaluated.

In order to get to the right conclusion, it is important to involve various aspects of your facility. Whether it is to review the origin of raw materials, symptoms in animal performance or post-mortem evaluation, taking a holistic approach is key in mycotoxin risk management.
