In episode 5 of MycoBites, Dr. Swamy Haladi discusses the analysis of biomarkers for mycotoxins. Roughly divided in two types: mycotoxin metabolites and biochemical parameters in the body, these parameters can be used to identify mycotoxin risk.
Are we at a point where we can use biomarkers to diagnose mycotoxin challenges? Is this way of measuring feasible for feed mills and animal producers? Ongoing research might hold the answer to these questions.
